Bosanska kafa. Dovoljno rečeno! When I first experienced Bosnian coffee in Sarajevo, I wasn’t prepared. It’s bold, addicting, and it’s a staple of Bosnian social settings. Sip it over time with friends. Beware, drink no more than two cups for your first time. There’s quite an energy boost with one small cup. I learned how to make it while living in Sarajevo years ago. It’s something that I’ve greatly missed and it makes me want to head back to enjoy it in it’s origins. I’ve had Greek and Turkish coffee, but Bosnian sets itself apart. I love the process of making it and the smell of the coffee itself is aroma therapy. It’s calming. Sadly, finding it served here in Chicago is a challenge. There’s only one cafe I’ve found that serves it. But it’s still not true to it’s roots. Who would have thought an Irish mick like myself would enjoy and appreciate this so much?
